Photo Challenge Day 19

Day 19 - A picture and a letter

Some of these things are super confusing.  A picture and a letter? How about a picture with a number? This past year I ran my first (and okay only thus far) 5k and my number was 104.  I have a goal to run another this year but it's not on the schedule yet.  Maybe posting this here will give me the motivation I need to get back into training.

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong fortress;the godly run to him and are safe.

Photo Challenge Day 18

Day 18 - A picture of your biggest insecurity

This whole trying for over two years to get myself a teaching job really does a number on my confidence.  I am pretty sure most days that I'm a good teacher, that God called me to this profession, and that I am making a difference but other days it really gets to me.  Hopefully this has just been a bump in the road, a lesson I needed to learn, and soon I will have a full-time teaching job.  Until then I guess i will continue to feel insecure about this.

Deuteronomy 8:3 Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

Photo Challenge Day 17

Day 17 - A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently

This is a screen capture of Children's Hope's website and the information they give their on the Ethiopia program.  This information, this organization, this dream will change my life forever.

Isaiah 11:11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to bring back the remnant of his people—those who remain in Assyria and northern Egypt;in southern Egypt,Ethiopia, and Elam; in Babylonia, Hamath, and all the distant coastlands.

Photo Challenge Day 16

Day 16 - A picture of someone who inspires you

In between me and my sister in this picture is my mama.  Never have I met another like her.  She put herself through nursing school while working and raising 7 children.  Seven children who adore her, all but one have a college degree (he went military and has an awesome job), all are Christians and raising her grandkids in the church, all are now married, I might be a little biased but I'd say we are all "good people" and that's due to her and dad.  Mom must have had limitless energy when she was younger and even now she works hard as a nurse practicioner giving her patients great care, sees those grandkids all the time, and makes beautiful quilts.  I am lucky enough to have 2!  She is so compassionate, so kind, so giving, so loving, so smart, so talented.  I hope I am half the mom that she is, my kids will be alright then.

Proverbs 23:25 So give your father and mother joy! May she who gave you birth be happy.

Photo Challenge Day 15

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die

I know there are 5 pictures here and not just one but that's because there are 5 states out of our great 50 that I haven't had the pleasure of visiting.  I would love to be able (sometime soon not just before I'm dead and gone) to say that I have been to all of the states.  My previous travel goal: Venice, Italy was met when we went on our Europe trip.  I would love to go back to Costa Rica and do more mission work for the Lord.  I can't wait to get my passport stamped in Ethiopia.  The international travel is cool but I think it's also important to know about your homeland and that's why I need these 5 states.

Psalm 139:3You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.

Photo Challenge Day 14

Day 14 - A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without

This is us dancing at our wedding.  Josh and I have been together as a couple 10 years in just a few weeks.  In that time we've both graduated high school, gone to college, Josh has moved multiple times, I've worked a ton of different jobs.  Josh's family has faced many losses and mine hasn't always been super easy.  We've grown up together and I can't imagine facing anything without him by my side.  Currently we're on maybe our biggest journey yet, and I'm glad I have him to turn to and to dream with.  I was so lucky to meet my match such a long time ago (more than a third of my life so far!) and like the Adam Sandler/Wedding Singer song  I wanna grow old with him.  Here's some lyrics:

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you.
I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growin old with you.
I'll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold.
Need you, feed you, I'll even let you hold the remote control.
So let me do the dishes in the kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink.
Oh I could be the man to grow old with you.
I wanna grow old with you.

Have a great day!

John 13:34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I haveloved you, you should love each other.

Photo Challenge Day 13

Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist

This is the David Crowder Band.  I am super into listening to Christian music these days because it just lifts me up.  God definitely has a way of sending you the right song at the right moment.  That said I don't really have a "favorite" other than radio station and that's KLOVE.  Anyway, a couple of months ago a dear friend invited me to go to Winter Jam with her.  One of the featured groups, there were many and they were all awesome too, was the DCB.  The thing that was special about them was that they led worship as opposed to performing for us.  It was an awesome event.  I want to see them alone in concert sometime soon.  Their love of God just oozes out of them and it's awesome.

So that's maybe a link to their truly awesome youtube video and if not go search for them on youtube, it's worth it.  I am glad that God has given us the opportunity to live here where I can turn on the radio and join in with millions of others glorifying God.

Psalm 135:3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;celebrate his lovely name with music
