So this is the first post. I'm writing this blog to have a record of the process of our adoption. Yep, that's right, Josh and I are adopting. Monday we mailed our application to Children's Hope International out of St. Louis to begin the process of adopting 2 siblings from Ethiopia.
I think I've always been fascinated by adoption. I've seen many great examples in my life. My heart feels for those children who don't have a family because I know I was so blessed with the one God gave me. God has laid upon our hearts at this time to start the process and to keep a sibling group together. We didn't know in the beginning that Ethiopia was where we would be going but after doing our research it is the best fit for our life although I am more than a little worried about the 2 trip requirement that was just added this year. How do you go and see your babies and then leave them there? I know God will help me through it though.
I know this journey will have many ups and downs but I am so excited and at the end we will have our hands very full.
Psalm 127:3 Children are a gift from the Lord;they are a reward from him.
Yay!!! I'm so stoked for you and I'm excited to read your story!!! Love you bunches!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your decision to adopt and from Ethiopia! We brought our daughter home just over a year and half ago and are now in the process of waiting for the referral of twins also from Ethiopia. Follow God's lead and don't let the opinions of others cloud your destination because the blessing that is waiting for you is beyond measure!

Jamie,
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how God has used you. The day after I started the blog and started directing people to it from my facebook, someone posted something very hurtful about international adoption. I was in shock and so sad and then God let you comment and your comment was just what I needed at the moment I needed it. Thank you and God Bless you on your journey.
God always provides when we need it most in ways that we could never imagine on our own. There will always be people who have an opinion on the decisions you make or the directions you choose but they are not the ones you have to answer to... It is not an easy path but in following God's plan for our lives we are secure in knowing that grace will follow... Please know that if you need anything or have any questions along the way that I would LOVE to help out as best I can!
